6 Office Furniture Trends for 2026

In a time of rapid innovation, we are seeing major shifts in the way businesses think about and want for their working space. Here are 6 trends we are seeing moving into 2026 and onwards.

1. IN-PERSON VS REMOTE

Return to Office is an aging concept. The dust has settled on what companies will and won’t return, the data is in vis a vis remote employees and productivity, and businesses can make their decisions knowing this. The next step is getting the office to be a place where people can go to be truly their best, to work hard, and to feel connected to the cause of what they do. This requires a distraction-free, seamless, functional and culturally-stimulating environment and real employee benefit,, i.e., a “human-first” or a “humanized” space.

2. ANALOG

Tech is integrated into everything we do. We stare at screens every day. We also know that tech is distracting, it can be buggy and frustrating, and it changes all the time. We want tech solutions to be seamless and intentional, and office spaces to have variety in the options their occupants can use to their advantage. We are encouraging our clients to consider downgrading their tech options in some areas of the office, for example:

  • No-tech spaces for productivity and deep work
  • No-tech or low-tech meeting spaces
  • Furniture units without AV or power
  • Paper materials // calendars // analog entertainment (no TVs)

3. INTENTIONAL TECH

When tech is present it should be done with intention. Some work can be done anywhere, some remote work acts as a cover for burnout and family burden. AV in furniture evolves too quickly and becomes obsolete, and tech can be integrated in other, better ways. Think about the USB adapters in Airplane TV systems: many of our devices are no longer compatible with them! In the office, that means those units will need to be replaced for them to be functional.

4. HUMANIZING SPACE

A larger aesthetic trend, in the face of rapid tech innovation, AI and intentional office planning, is that of a return to nature in office aesthetics. Some design trends we are seeing include:

  • Natural materials
  • Soothing earth-tone colors
  • Vintage or analog designs and aesthetics
  • Soft and dynamic lighting
  • Intentional acoustics for privacy when desired

5. WORKSHOP

As AI continues to disrupt the way we work, we are considering how the best outcomes for our future can be aided by a reminder of what makes human work special, and when to value it. The office space functions best as collaborative-first, inspiring, zoned appropriately for the company and sector. Cultura has shifted from calling our space a “showroom” to a “workshop”, a reflection of our commitment to our core values. The workshop is a place you can go to create something you love and collaborate intelligently.

6. REUSE

Sustainability is more than “buying green”. It also means reusing what you already have, and buying smart instead of for now. Technical, function design will mean less units replaced over time, less trends that look tacky in 2-3 years, and more ROI for that company in terms of productivity and straightforward thinking.
