Your workplace is the key to aligning your team with your mission

Cultura office space

In April 2025, Cultura leadership participated in a summit where speakers shared insights on trends, challenges, and actionable strategies in their respective fields. Cultura discussed the importance of values-based leadership and cultivating culture through intentional design, as well as strategic ways to align your space with your goals.

Cultivating a values-based culture is essential for the success of your company. Creating a place where people want to come to work attracts and helps retain talent, generates new ideas, and encourages learning. Orienting outcomes to your company’s mission bestows employees at all levels with a sense of shared purpose. With the growing importance of AI and virtual work, flexibility, collaboration, and the human touch will become increasingly important factors driving culture across industries. We believe that companies can begin implementing steps to cultivate culture through values-based leadership and thoughtful workplace solutions.

Values-Based Leadership

Leadership at all company levels is critical to building an environment where employees feel compelled to contribute to the success of their company. As of 2023, the share of employees working remotely is four times that of 2019. Connection is a much-discussed drawback of the cultural shift towards flexibility, hybrid and remote work. It is essential to provide opportunities for productive collaboration to keep employees engaged. Companies need to leverage strong leadership to bring their employees together and foster a culture of thoughtful collaboration. Cultura uses Tiger Teams — small focus groups dedicated to addressing one problem or topic  — that pull from our teams and work to involve our employees collaboratively in Cultura’s mission. This way, our leadership team can hear from our employees in a low-stakes, structured environment. What this can look like for an individual company may vary. We have found that integrating your values into existing goals, rather than creating new work, encourages participation, minimizing pushback.

“Principled leaders encourage collaboration while actively participating in and supporting team efforts, setting an example for others to follow. Motivate your team members and reinforce that success is a shared endeavor. Doing so can create a culture where everyone feels valued and empowered.”

– Harvard Business Review

Workplace Solutions

Aligning your space with company goals begins with identifying cultural pain points stemming from the workplace. This could be anything from the organization and placement of your teams, the layout of collaborative spaces, or that workstations do not afford  — or afford too much — privacy or seclusion for a person working in a given role. We ask questions to investigate what might be causing hang-ups in culture, productivity, or collaboration.

Some examples include:

  • When you meet with people, is it typically 1-2 people or is it a larger group and what is the max size?
  • How often do you and your team meet in-person and for how long is that meeting?
  • What is your biggest distraction while you are trying to focus?
  • What type of items do you need immediately at hand to work/function at your desk?

How Cultura Can Help

We build solutions individually for each of our clients based on their pain points and goals. We consider workstation orientation, high traffic vs. low traffic, lighting, tech solutions, meeting spaces, and acoustics, as well as compliance with local and federal regulation. We use extensive data from our work across markets to inform our decisions, and we work with you to implement solutions that will build your culture and improve the quality of life of your employees. No matter your goals, we encourage our clients to enjoy the process, be patient, and ask meaningful questions to help you get to where you want to be.
